About us
Always the pleasure of good things
I like to tell you about our restaurant starting from today! I am Nicola and together with my family I run the restaurant Locanda Vittoria. This is the third generation that continues with the restaurant business at Locanda Vittoria.
You will find us in the center of Pozzolo sul Mincio, a hamlet of Marmirolo: inside the restaurant you can breathe a warm and enveloping atmosphere, where the aromas blend together to make you savour the tastes and flavours of the Mantuan tradition. On warm summer evenings we also prepare our outdoor garden, which is directly connected to the “Mantova-Peschiera” cycle path along the Mincio river.
About us
Always the pleasure of good things
We prepare our dishes respecting the tradition of Mantuan cuisine and we want to offer you good, tasty and typical products. We do it with kindness, simple ways and transparency.
I became passionately fond of the restaurant following in the footsteps of my parents Pietro and Luciana who started running the restaurant in the 70s by taking over from their grandparents. We are a family and at the same time we carry on our passion for good food to customers who come to visit us for the first time and to the ones that come back again.
Historical Context
An old monastery
The restaurant was housed in a former sixteenth century monastery owned by the Gonzaga family, one of the most famous and magnificent families in Europe and protagonists of Italian and European history from the fourteenth to the eighteenth century who controlled the city of Mantua. During the summer we prepare the area of the external courtyard from which it is possible to admire the cloister of the former monastery next to the restaurant.
authentic flavours
passion for good cuisine
Tortelli with pumpkin, tortellini with meat, bigoli (a type of home-made noodles), risotto with saltarelli (freshwater shrimps), pike with sauce: these are some of the traditional dishes that we like to offer you and that we hand down from generation to generation in our restaurant. It is very important for us to spread the cuisine and the essence of our territory.
Every single dish – from appetizers to desserts – is entirely made by me and my mum Luciana.
We prepare the dishes so that they are always fresh and we guarantee the quality of the products through the careful choice of raw materials.
Pike With Sauce De.Co And Risotto With Saltarei
The Mantuan gastronomy is rich. Here we want to tell you about two distinctive De.Co. (Municipal Designation), typical of this part of the territory: the Pike with sauce De.Co. and Risotto with Saltarei (freshwater shrimps).
The gastronomic traditions derive from the raw materials found in the area: in fact, rice has always been grown along the Mincio river. To accompany this dish, the waterways, which massively cross the Mantua area, ensured the fishing of pike, catfish, crayfish and more.
Hence two great De.Co.: risotto with saltarei (freshwater shrimps) and pike with sauce that we are proud to offer you so as not to forget the link between these dishes, today difficult to find, with our territory.
